Labradorite is a grey feldspar that flashes blue, green or gold when light hits it at the right angle.
A grey plagioclase feldspar, one of the most common rock-forming minerals.
Very thin layers inside bounce light back in color. It's called labradorescence.
Fairly hard, but rough pieces can have sharp edges.
Named after Labrador in Canada, where it was first described.
On rough stone the flash shows only on some faces. Turn it under one light to find it.
Wipe with a soft cloth; natural dust on raw pieces can be rinsed off.

Why don't I see the flash from every side?
On a rough stone the flash only shows when light hits the inner layers at the right angle, and some faces may barely flash at all. That's normal for raw labradorite; polished stones show it more evenly.
