Many sellers offer glass or synthetic "goldstone" and sell it as sunstone — goldstone has an artificially uniform, densely packed sparkle with a deep brown-red glass base. Real sunstone is a natural feldspar mineral, not quartz, with a lighter golden-orange to peach base and a more scattered, less uniform glitter caused by tiny natural copper or hematite inclusions.
Your specimens will have a raw, naturally faceted structure with the sparkle visible only from certain angles as light catches the inclusions — it won't glitter uniformly from every direction like glass goldstone does. No two pieces are the same.
