Tiger's eye is a golden-brown quartz with a moving band of light, named for that eye-like shine.
Quartz grown together with fine mineral fibers inside.
The fibers reflect light in a band that slides across the stone as you turn it. This is called chatoyancy.
Hard and smooth, good for carrying.
Iron oxides give it the gold and brown.
Much of the world's tiger's eye comes from South Africa.
Fine with water. Dry it and store away from harder stones.
